
4-Day Turkmenistan Tour: Shavat – Kunya-Urgench – Darvaza – Ashgabat – Merv
This 4-day journey begins at the Shavat border near Khiva and blends desert drama with Silk Road heritage. Explore the ancient monuments of Kunya-Urgench, then reach the blazing Darvaza Gas Crater for sunset, a kebab dinner, and an overnight stay in a traditional yurt. Continue to white-marble Ashgabat for a city tour of monuments, lively bazaars, and museums, plus a visit to the UNESCO-listed ruins of Ancient Nisa. The tour ends with a transfer to Turkmenabat and the Farab border crossing.

DAY BY DAY
Day 1 — Khiva – Dashoguz – Kunya-Urgench – Darvaza Gas Crater
Meet at the Uzbekistan border (Shavat) near Khiva and Urgench. Drive to Kunya-Urgench for sightseeing among its ancient monuments. Continue to the Darvaza Gas Crater, known as the "Gates of Hell". Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in a traditional yurt camp.
Day 2 — Darvaza – Ashgabat
After breakfast at Darvaza, take a scenic drive to Ashgabat (300 km, about 5 hours). Stop to see the water crater and mud crater along the way. Enjoy an Ashgabat city tour and check in to your hotel, followed by a traditional dinner in the city.
Day 3 — Ashgabat – Ancient Nisa – Ashgabat
Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ancient Nisa, capital of the Parthian Empire. Explore the main attractions of Ashgabat. Overnight stay in Ashgabat.
Day 4 — Ashgabat – Turkmenabat – Farab Border
Arrive in Turkmenabat in the morning. Transfer to the Farab border crossing, about 30 minutes away, where the tour ends.
