3 Day Tour: Shavat – Kunya-Urgench – Darvaza – Ashgabat
This compact 3-day tour of Turkmenistan blends ancient history, desert adventure, and the highlights of the capital. Entering through the Shavat border, you explore Kunya-Urgench, a UNESCO World Heritage site of ancient mausoleums and minarets, before driving on to the fiery Darvaza Gas Crater for a sunset, dinner, and an overnight stay in yurts beneath the desert sky. The journey ends in Ashgabat, the gleaming "White Marble City," where you discover its museums, monuments, and lively bazaars before a guided transfer to the airport.
DAY BY DAY
Day 1 — Shavat Border → Kunya-Urgench → Darvaza Gas Crater
Meet your guide at the Shavat border crossing by 10:00 AM and complete the border formalities. Visit the historical sites of Kunya-Urgench, a UNESCO World Heritage complex of ancient mausoleums and minarets. Then drive across the Karakum Desert to the famous Darvaza Gas Crater. Spend the evening at the burning crater with dinner and an overnight stay in yurts under the stars.
Day 2 — Darvaza → Ashgabat
Depart Darvaza in the morning and drive toward Ashgabat, stopping en route at the Water and Mud Craters. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided city tour of Ashgabat, the "White Marble City," with its grand monuments and marble buildings. Overnight in a hotel in the capital.
Day 3 — Ashgabat → Airport Transfer
Continue your morning city tour of Ashgabat with your guide, visiting its main sights, monuments, and bazaars. Afterwards, transfer to the airport, arriving around 1:00 PM in time for your departing flight.
