2-Day Turkmenistan Tour: Shavat – Darvaza – Ashgabat
This compact two-day tour combines Turkmenistan's two greatest highlights: the burning Darvaza Gas Crater and the white-marble capital of Ashgabat. Starting from the Shavat border near Khiva, you cross the Karakum Desert to spend a night beside the fiery "Gates of Hell" in a traditional yurt camp. The next day takes you to Ashgabat, a Guinness World Record city, before ending with a transfer to the international airport. It is the perfect short adventure for travelers arriving from Uzbekistan.

DAY BY DAY
Day 1 — Khiva – Dashoguz – Darvaza
We meet you at the Shavat border crossing near Khiva and, after completing all formalities, drive to Dashoguz for lunch at a local restaurant. From there we set off across the Karakum Desert toward the famous Darvaza Gas Crater, the Gates of Hell (about 300 km, 7 hours). On arrival you have free time to enjoy the spectacle of the burning crater, with dinner served at a nearby yurt camp 400 meters away. In the evening your guide shares the stories of Darvaza, and you spend the night in yurts or tents.
Day 2 — Darvaza – Ashgabat – Departure
After breakfast we continue to Ashgabat (about 271 km, 4.5 hours), stopping along the way at the Water and Mud craters and a small desert village where locals raise goats and camels. After lunch we tour Ashgabat, listed in the Guinness Book of Records for its white marble buildings, visiting the National Museum, the Carpet Museum, monuments, the ruins of ancient Nisa and Anau, the Akhal-Teke horse stables, and local bazaars. The day ends with dinner at a traditional restaurant and a transfer to Ashgabat International Airport for your departure.
