
3-Day Turkmenistan Tour: Farab, Night Train, Ashgabat, Darvaza and Shavat

Enter at the Farab border, explore Turkmenabat, then board the night train to Ashgabat alongside locals. Discover the gleaming White Marble City before heading into the Karakum desert to the Darvaza Gas Crater, the famous "Door to Hell," for a BBQ dinner, stargazing, and an overnight yurt stay. The tour ends in Dashoguz with an exit via the Shavat border.

DAY BY DAY
Day 1 — Farab – Turkmenabat – night train to Ashgabat
After crossing the Farab border, travel to Turkmenabat for some sightseeing around the city. Explore its monuments and local atmosphere at an easy pace. In the evening, board the overnight train to Ashgabat, sharing the journey with locals for an authentic Turkmen experience.
Day 2 — Ashgabat city tour – Darvaza Gas Crater
Arrive in Ashgabat in the morning and enjoy breakfast before a guided city tour of the White Marble City, with its gleaming monuments, museums, and bazaars. In the afternoon, depart for the Karakum desert and the Darvaza Gas Crater, arriving at sunset to witness the spectacular burning crater. Dinner is served at a nearby yurt camp, and you spend the night in yurts or tents under the desert stars.
Day 3 — Darvaza – Dashoguz – Shavat border crossing
After breakfast in Darvaza, continue north toward Dashoguz. Spend some time exploring the city upon arrival before heading to the Shavat border crossing, located near Khiva in Uzbekistan. The tour ends here at the border.
